Here, for OS X, is a native PDF editor (or PDF based word-processor, depending on how you look at it). It seems interesting; and perhaps “easier” than LaTeX.

If the screenshot on the front page is what they consider good typography then I am not afraid of the future of TeX (but rather in it’s ConTeXt with LuaTeX variant since I am not sure if LaTeX has any future ;).
